Jewellery

A sophisticated art form that transcends mere decoration, functioning as a "wearable sculpture" that intimately interacts with the human body. As an artistic medium, it acts as a,canvas for personal expression, cultural narratives, and technical mastery, with roots stretching back over 100,000 years

Visual Arts

Creative expressions appreciated primarily through sight, spanning mediums like painting, sculpture, photography, film, and architecture. They communicate meaning and emotion through visual elements line, shape, color, and texture and are classified as fine art, decorative art, or commercial art. These works can be representational, abstract, or non-objective

Performances

Dynamic, live art forms, including theatre, music, and dance where artists use their voices, bodies, and presence to convey stories, emotions, or ideas directly to an audience. Unlike static visual arts, these performances are ephemeral, occurring in real-time, often involving technical, musical, or choreographed

Theatre

Refers to both the physical location where performances take place as well as to the dramatic art form itself. As a dramatic art form, theater's definition consists of a live, collaborative performance with actors and actresses who perform in front of an audience.

They function as a creative hub for skill development, fostering local talent, and promoting mental wellbeing through hands-on, collaborative learning

Heritage

Waimakariri history in images and art. A living art form through the curation of community memories, taonga, and landmark, blending Ngāi Tūāhuriri narratives with European settlement history to define local identity and oral histories, creating a textured, evolving tapestry of North Canterbury

It encompasses a wide variety of techniques, including weaving, embroidery, dyeing, felting, quilting, and sewing, to create 2D wall hangings, 3D sculptures, and large-scale installations

Wearable Arts

Funding Criteria for CCS
There are three funding criteria under the Creative Communities Scheme, Access and participation, Diversity, Young people. Access and participation: The project will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in local arts activities
Diversity - The project will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity
Young people: The project will enable and encourage young people (under 18) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.
